Ala Moana Beach is located a short distance west of Waikiki.  It can be reached either by foot or by bus from the central Waikiki tourist district. It features a huge green park, lovely beach and is generally much less busy than many of the Waikiki beaches.  Ala Moana is also a popular surf beach.
